Staying at Mercure you are much closer to the city than in other airport hotels, but if you travel without a car you must take the hotel’s free shuttle back to the airport to visit Amsterdam. Taxi is your only convenient other option. The Amsterdam Congress Centre RAI is really nearby (5 km), but the centre of the city is still ca. 10 km away. There is a city bus connection with Amsterdam, but it is not handy.
