Eetcafe De Ridder is furnished with the usual wooden bar, stools, tables and chairs. However the interior differs to reflect the significance of its name. Ridder meaning Knights, is notably tributed through the figurines placed at every table to the framed photographs on the wall.
Upon entrance it becomes apparent that this is not simply a place to have a quiet meal. There are posters dotted around, that notify up and coming Ridder events.
De Ridder organise everything from Pop Quizzes, Football screenings on a flat screen TV, to Summer Barbecues. Thus it is advised to dine around 6pm if you are in search of a quiet meal. Alternatively they welcome you to eat later, and follow up your meal with a night of events, that kick starts after 9pm on most weekends.
The menu itself is comprised of Soups, Salads and a selection of Beef Steak, Chicken Breast, Lasagne or Fish, all served with Fries and Salad. Vegetarians will have to opt for a Salad or one of the two changing 'dishes of the day' known as the Riddermeal. All meals including Salads, are generously portioned, and remarkably priced under 10 Euro.
De Ridder attracts a number of tourists and regular locals. They invite their customers to make themselves feel at home, offering a variety of entertainments, and the choice to sit inside or the Terrace for a night of fun, with of without the meal!
