Furnished with wooden tables and chairs, its interior is what the Dutch would describe as 'gezellig.' A cosy atmosphere created by dim lighting and the arrangement of artificial fruits and real flowers on the walls. Reflecting the culture of decorating the room with old things, it seems more like a Dutch living room than diner.
The Pantry has an open menu available in 6 different languages, soon to include Chinese. The traditional meals are illustrated through a Dutch flag beside the dishes' name. These include 'Herring' as well as 'Stamppotten;' a mashed potato dish mixed with vegetables and sausages.
They also offer an extensive wine list from different countries, the red wine displayed on a wine rack. Your waiter brings you your choice of wine, giving you a quick taster before pouring it into your glass.
After you have ordered, you can comfortably enjoy your wine and company, with popular music playing softly in the background. Your meal arrives well presented and portioned, served with an optional vegetable or salad and fries or boiled potatoes.
Located in the busy streets of Leidseplein, it is advised to reserve your table in advance as it can get busy. During the summer it's possible to sit on the small terrace with your choice of company.
The Pantry is overall an ideal restaurant for you to stop for a traditional dinner the Dutch also come to enjoy, satisfying your appetite before hitting the town for a night of fun.
